Yes. After a long wait, PUBG Mobile is finally relaunching in India. Earlier It was Banned in September along with other 108 Chinese apps by GOI stating that the app is engaged in activities that are prejudicial to sovereignty, integrity & security of the country under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act.
Be it a teenager or adult everyone was addicted to Pubg Fever. After the ban, Pubg Corp. officially took down the publishing rights for India from Tencent (Chinese Multinational Company), which was the main culprit for the ban because of Privacy reasons in India. Pubg Corp was already trying every way possible to come back to India, because of the huge popularity & the fan base it has here.
In July it had nearly 24% Indian users of the total users worldwide as per Sensor Tower data that provides market intelligence & analytics for mobile apps. Lockdown may have triggered this sudden surge in user base but the point to be noted is that Pubg Corp. was already generating enough revenue here in India. Back in September Pubg Corp. also had officially stated on their website about the Ban.
A few days back in a press release PUBG Corp. announced that it would be releasing a separate version of PUBG Mobile for Indian users. The press release also stated that it would be promoting for the new branch as well in the New Delhi the Capital of India. You can see the job posting they had placed 4 weeks ago on LinkedIn. Pubg Corp. has also announced to invest nearly $100 million in India.
Why PUBG Mobile is Delaying the Launch?
For a comeback in India, Pubg had only one way is by storing data in India itself so that they can get Government approval easily. Krafton, the parent firm of Pubg Corp. announced on 7th November about the global partnership with Microsoft. As per the deal, Krafton & its subsidiaries will now be hosted in Microsoft Azure. As Microsoft already have three data centers here in India now all the Indian user’s data will be shifted from the global account to the Indian account. This is the main reason relaunch has been delayed, as the shifting of every user account details is not an easy task.
You can see some users have been already sharing the details on social media & YouTube regarding the Migrating of data from global to Indian acoount.
The Indian version of the PUBG Mobile which is to be released this week will be different from the Global version, with some major changes, including a feature to limit playtime. As of now, the Global version is set to start Season 16 from tomorrow onwards i.e 17th November. In India, only those users who haven’t deleted the app can still be able to play but only on the broadband networks (wifi) as we have tested with JIO & AIRTEL Network game was not working.
Season 16 New Classic Mode
METRO ROYALE MODE
PUBG Mobile is returning at a perfect time as a ‘DIWALI’ Gift for the Indian Gaming Community. One thing is to be noticed that how other BattleRoyale Games like CALL OF DUTY, GARENA FREE FIRE & FORTNIGT will be affected by this UNBANNING of PUBG Mobile. On the other hand, it will not be a big hurdle for Pubg Mobile to regain the top BattleRoyale Game in India again.
For now, all we can do is wait as to when PUBG Mobile is officially going to launch the trailer in India for the Relaunching of the game. And later we can also expect the Official app will also be launched in Google Playstore in the coming days.
After all everyone is waiting for ” WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER “.
